You can train your dog to help you manage your Parkinson’s symptoms!
Here are some of our esteemed graduates:
Our CCPDT-certified dog trainer, Kate Palese, has 20+ years of experience training dogs. Her mother had Parkinson’s, and she is thrilled to have the chance to teach you how to train your dog to “lend a helping paw”.
Impossible, you say? In the six-week class, Kate will help you train your pup to:
- Pick up dropped items
- Recognize when you are in a “freeze” and help you “unfreeze”
- Walk civilly on leash
- Heel, whether you use a cane, a chair, a scooter or walk unassisted
WHEN: Friday afternoons, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, September 30 – November 4, 2016
COST: $80 for a six-week course
Your dog’s mastery of these skills is not guaranteed – but the laughs are.
Join the fun and meet other dog-lovers in the Parkinson’s community.
CLASS IS LIMITED TO EIGHT DOGS, two people per dog
(no aggressive dogs or people allowed)
Completion of this course does not confer the ADA rights reserved for owners of certified service dogs.
