Parkinson’s Association of San Diego Third Party Fundraising Policies
Thank you for your efforts to help people affected by Parkinson’s. By donating the proceeds (full or in-part) generated by your fundraising event to the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego, we can continue our mission to help Parkinson’s patients maintain the best possible quality of life while facing the daily challenges of Parkinson’s. We wish you every success in with your event!
To avoid any potential areas of misunderstanding, please read through the policies below. Once you have an understanding of each party’s responsibilities, click here. Once completed, please e-mail your proposal and any supporting documentation to contactus@parkinsonsassociation.org, or mail to:

Advanced Approval of Third Party Fundraisers Benefiting PASD
PASD must approve all events proposing to raise money to benefit PASD. particularly when there is a request to use PASD materials, its network or logo. We reserve the right to decline to participate in any event which is in conflict with the mission, vision or values of the organization.
Limitations of PASD’s Involvement
PASD’s staff and resources are already dedicated to our own major fundraisers, which limit our ability to participate in the production or execution of your event. By taking on a fundraising project, you assume the responsibility for creating and managing your planned event with minimal assistance from PASD.
How PASD Can Help
We will make every effort to help with the following for approved events:
- A planning consultation with PASD Special Events Manager
- Day of Event Volunteer Support (PASD will need volunteer job descriptions in advance.)
- Attendance of a PASD Staff Member or Representative
- Posting Your Event on the PASD Website
- Promotion in our newsletter (if print deadlines are met and space is available).
- Social Media and Email Messaging
Planning and Scheduling
In planning and scheduling your event, please avoid scheduling your event in close proximity to planned PASD events. Our annual “Step by Step” 5K Walk & Fun Run for Parkinson’s is usually scheduled on a Saturday morning in April, and our Reniassance Gala Awards Dinner is usually held on a Saturday evening in October.
Financial and Legal Obligations
Third party fundraisers cannot obligate PASD financially or legally. PASD’s Executive Director is the only officer authorized by the Board of Directors who can legally sign contracts on behalf of PASD.
PASD cannot accept liability for any losses or damages due to the event. PASD is participating as a beneficiary only.
Avoiding Duplicate Solicitation
It is important that we avoid duplicate solicitations of potential sponsors or prize donors. Please submit your list of organizations you plan to solicit to for our approval prior to making contact.
Pre-approval of Materials Bearing PASD’s Name or Logo
PASD must pre-approve in writing any letters or promotional materials bearing PASD’s name or logo. These include:
- Flyers and Brochures
- Press Releases
- Calendar Announcements
- Notices for Websites, Newsletter, Social Media and Emails
- Letters Requesting Donations or Sponsorship
- Media Contacts List
Participation as a Financial Agent
PASD does not participate as a financial agent in third party fundraisers unless advance permission is received from PASD’s Executive Director.
Termination of this Agreement
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time, with or without cause, upon ten days of written notice to the other party. The use of the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego’s name and/or emblem must immediately cease upon receipt of such notice.
The relationship, established by this agreement, is not an exclusive one. The Parkinson’s Association of San Diego may participate in any other similar projects coinciding with the dates of this agreement.
It is understood and agreed that neither party hereto has the authority to act as an agent on behalf of the other, except as the terms and conditions of this agreement may convey such authority. This agreement is not assignable by either party, by operation of law or otherwise.
Proceeds
Proceeds shall be paid to PASD within 2 weeks of the event, along with an accounting of all revenue and expenses.
