VA Healthcare Systems Studies for Veterans and Non-Veterans

  1. Interventions for Parkinson’s Disease Study: This intervention study is investigating the effectiveness of two different group interventions on quality of life, mood, and cognition in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. The study duration is approximately about 1 year and 2 months, involves a 9-week intervention class for either mindfulness based stress reduction or creative education care, and periodic cognitive pencil and paper testing sessions. Currently, this study is offered in an online format and enrolls Non-Veterans and Veterans. 
  2. Traumatic Brain Injury in Parkinson’s Disease Study: This longitudinal observational study is investigating the impact of mild to moderate traumatic brain injury on quality of life, mood, and cognition individuals with Parkinson’s disease. The study duration is approximately 2 years and involves cognitive pencil and paper testing sessions and possibly an MRI scan. Currently, this study is only enrolling Veterans.
