Jeff Seckendorf Cycling Hour Record Attempt
One of the most iconic events in bicycle racing is the hour record. It is so simple and so elegant: how far can you ride your bike in one hour. First attempted in 1873, both amateur and professional riders have stepped up to the challenge throughout the decades. There are world records, national records, and track records.
On August 1, 2021, at 7am, I am going to do an hour ride on the San Diego Velodrome. There is currently no track record for my age group, 65-69, so I will set one, giving all others a bar to try to exceed. My goal is to return annually to best whatever record is standing for my age.
As part of the fundraising efforts for the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego and the 2021 Dolomite trek, please donate on my behalf as I prepare to suffer mightily in the pursuit of a ride against the clock.
