Parks in the Park
A new support group has been organized to serve the needs of the San Diego YOPD (Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease) community. The focus of this group will be to discuss the needs, struggles, and experiences that are unique to people with YOPD. Many of us are trying to manage career, family, children, spouses, and a medical regimen that feels like another full time job. Parkinson’s is a big part of our life but it does not define who we are or the future that we will have. Hopefully we can find some levity in the sometimes ridiculous situations we find ourselves in. All members of the YOPD community are welcome! We meet in parks throughout the city of San Diego. Please bring a lawn-chair/blanket to sit on and your favorite drink to chat over! We call our group “Parks in the Park”!

An occasional hike for people with young onset Parkinson’s.
First hike is Sunday, October 8, 2023, details below.
You can walk the lagoon or walk/hike through Annie’s Canyon. It’s a lot of fun.
Family and friends are welcome too. Dogs are welcome on the paths but not in Annie’s Canyon.

Directions to the Park & Ride for I5 North
Head North on I5
Exit Manchester Avenue (Exit 39)
Turn Left on to Manchester
Just past the Chevron gas station at the light turn left which will take you to the parking lot
Run of schedule
We meet in the park & ride
We walk across to Manchester
We take the bridge (under the freeway) to get to the Lagoon
We then walk whichever path you feel comfortable taking
We return at our leisure and continue on with our day
