Sherrie Gould, N.P.
Courage, determination and commitment are three big words to describe what I see everyday in clinic and more importantly on mountain tops around the world. Courage to say “I can,” determination to believe “they can,” and commitment to “make it happen” by training for months before a climb. We climb to raise money for great Parkinson’s causes but more importantly we climb because we KNOW that exercise is medicine – exercise as challenging as it can be for people with Parkinson’s is the antidote to the stiffness, slowness, tremor and poor balance in Parkinson’s Disease. The tears of success, the hugs of accomplishment, the strengthening of the body are all rewards I have seen as I have had the privilege of leading people with Parkinson’s to mountain tops around the world…Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Peru, Spain, the Dolomites in Northern Italy and now in 2024, the Kumano Kodo in Japan. The Parkinson’s Association of San Diego is an amazing local organization that provides incredible education and services to the thousands of people with Parkinson’s in San Diego County. We are committed to raising $2000 per trekker for this organization….will you help me reach my goal?
Jeff Seckendorf
One of the benefits of being married to Sherrie Gould is having a hundred friends with Parkinson’s Disease. Watching the journeys of these amazing souls drives me every day to be stronger, faster, and tanacious. I’ve seen first hand how the physical and mental challenges of Parkinson’s can be so effectively overcome by these big mountain treks – Kilimanjaro, Mt. Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu, the Camino, the Dolomites, and now, Japan – everyone pushing themselves beyond their known limits, reveling in success while seeing symptoms abate. The Parkinson’s Association is an anchor for everyone – patients and caregivers – impacted by Parkinson’s and I’m grateful to be raising funds to support an organization that helps so many people.
