Thank you for coming to my donation page! This is my third hiking adventure with my Power Over Parkinson’s! friends. After tackling Machu Picchu and the Camino Santiago I’m ready to head up the Dolomites in Italy in September 2020.
This year we are raising money for the very worthy Parkinson’s Association of San Diego which provides assistance & education to the many thousands of folks like myself living with Parkinson’s Disease and their loved ones in San Diego County. Take a moment to look at the rest of their website to see all the good works they do with donations, a very small percentage of which goes to operating expenses. In fact, Executive Director, Chris Buscher’s office is his phone!
So, until there is a cure or treatment to end the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, we need to support great organizations like the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego to help them help us live the best lives we can while dealing with this insidious, progressive, incurable, neurological disease and its myriad of symptoms.
My diagnosis was 8 years ago and thankfully has progressed somewhat slowly. I do my best to do what’s good for my health including diet, rest, Centering Prayer, acupuncture, chiropractic, medication, (trying to) minimize stress, lots of Rock Steady Boxing (I’m a coach now!), and of course, hiking.
I’m excited to take on this next challenge of climbing the Dolomites. All of us hikers are paying our own travel expenses so the money we raise will go 100% to the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego. Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $2000 & I’ll do the climbing.
Walk it through, up, down and around! Go Elena!!!!
