Study looking at the effects of head injuries on Parkinson’s Disease

“The Neurocognition and Movement Lab under Dr. Schiehser at the VA San Diego is looking for military veterans to participate in a research study investigating the impact of head injuries on Parkinson’s Disease. Prior head injuries are not required to participate in this study. The study consists of completing cognitive assessments with a research assistant to assess multiple cognitive domains and completing questionnaires. You would also complete a motor exam administered by a neurologist and complete a functional MRI scan of your brain. There would be two visits involved for the entire study: one at baseline and a follow-up appointment two years later, with the cognitive assessments, questionnaires, and motor exam done at both timepoints. Participants may be compensated up to $150 for their entire participation.

If interested, please call (858) 552-8585 ext. 2951 to speak with a lab member or email deyran.paredes@va.gov for more information.”
